Community of Democracies Meetings in Seoul

Second Ministerial Conference of the Community of Democracies
Seoul, Korea 10–12 November 2002

Delegates from more than 110 countries adopted a pro-democracy action plan and an anti-terrorism declaration at the Second Ministerial Conference of the Community of Democracies, held 10-12 November 2002 in Seoul, Korea. The conference, “Democracy: Investing for Peace and Prosperity,” was organized around four ministerial roundtables: 1) Consolidating Democratic Institutions, 2) Regional Cooperation to Promote Democracy, 3) Media and Democracy, and 4) Coordinating Democracy Assistance.

  CD Participation Criteria - In September, 2002 the Community of Democracies Convening Group determined that states need to respect certain democratic standards in order to participate in the Community of Democracies.
